Teres Latin Market

Today I met up with a new friend, Lee, who will be on my cruise next year along with her significant other and some of my other cruise friends. We decided to meet for lunch at the half way point in Ellicot City, about a 45-minute drive for each of us.

Teres Latin Market sits in a small strip plaza on Rte 40, near Rte 29. It's a small grocery store filled with typical Latino foods with a dining area in the back. With only two tables and a long counter with stools, Teres serves authentic Mexican/Latin American dishes.

Lee ordered the chicken mole, which is a spicy red, thick sauce and served on top of the chicken. I ordered the carne asada. Our meals came with small tortillas, salad, seasoned rice, and re-fried type beans. We shared a cheese filled pupusa, which came with shredded lettuce and sauce. Everything was very good, although my meat was a little tough to cut.

Our meals with two bottles of water for me and a bottle of water and soda for Lee came to $24.

Other dishes served included tamales, tacos, and even fried whole fish that looked delicious.

We had a most enjoyable afternoon talking about our past cruises, our future cruise on the Celebrity Silhouette, and just getting to know each other. We have a long wait till our cruise, but I know we'll meet up many times before then.

As for the restaurant, I think it's a great place for an inexpensive and authentic Latino meal.
